Russian corporation Rosatom began working on the project of units two and three of the Iranian nuclear plant of Bushehr II, was announced here today.
The head of Rosatom, Alexey Likhachev, reported the start of the works during a regular session of the International Atomic Energy Organization, in Vienna, Austria, cited in this capital.
Calculations of specialists refer that units two and three of Bushehr II will cost about 10 billion dollars and will be operating in October 2024, the first, and in 2026, the second.
The Russian company was in charge of the construction of the first unit four years ago that gave the possibility of generating a thousand megawatts per year.
AtomStroyExport, a subsidiary of Rosatom and general contractor of the Bushehr plant, and the Nuclear Energy Production and Development Company of Iran, signed a key contract in 2014 for that project.
The next two VVER-1000 units will have Generation III plus technology, including the latest safety features, with a combined capacity of 2,100 megawatts.
