The nurses’ nationwide protests were held on Sunday, August 6, 2017, in accordance with previous calls in front of the Ministry of Health and Universities of Medical Sciences in Tehran and other cities across Iran.

Nurses launched the rally to protest against a plan called “Training Hospital Nurses.”

The Iranian regime wants to use this self-made plan to introduce to hospitals the Basij forces or those who have no nursing education as nurses to enter the hospitals. While holding banners and placards, protesting nurses called for the cancellation of the project.

In Tehran, the security forces and police led the nurses to the park next to the ministry of health to ask them introduce their representatives for talks and negotiation.

The health ministry’s security guards blocked the roads to the ministry hours before the start of the rally by placing fences, blocking the gathering of nurses in front of the ministry.

The high council of nursing and nursing authorities also called for to stop the “training hospital nurses” plan while holding placards and banners. Nurses refer to this plan as anonymity plan.
