State Security Forces attacked Mashhad protesters today using tear gas and firing air shots. They stationed water cannons in the city to disperse demonstrators. A number of protesters have been wounded. When state security forces arrested a protester, others screamed “let him go.”
With chants of “forget about Syria, think about us,” thousands of Iranians staged an extensive demonstration against unbridled the rising coast of living on Thursday morning, December 28, 2017, in Mashhadm, the second most populous city in Iran.
Similar demonstrations also took place in Kashmar and Neyshabur, also in this northeastern Iranian province.
People also chanted: Police, go catch the thief; by taking advantage of Islam you have fed up the people; thieves rob and the government supports, etc.
The state-run ISNA news agency cited Mashhad’s Governor who threatened to deal with the protesters. He admitted that a number of people had been arrested at the peaceful rally.
