Mohammad Mehdi, the son of the late Secretary-General of Hezbollah Hassan Nasrallah, was seen on Tuesday evening in the city of Qom, central Iran, wearing his father’s black turban.

The city is known as a hub for Shia clerical authorities and religious seminaries.

Iranian media reported that “Mohammad Mehdi, the son of the former Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah, has been in Iran for several days.” The Tabnak news agency stated that “Mohammad Mehdi wore his father’s turban under the guidance of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.”

Mohammad Jawad, another of Nasrallah’s sons, confirmed on X that his brother was wearing their father’s turban.

Mohammad Mehdi has been studying at the Shia seminary in Qom for several years. Upon completing his religious education, he was set to receive a black turban.

He is the fourth of Hassan Nasrallah’s five children – Hadi, Zeinab, Mohammad Jawad, Mohammad Mehdi and Mohammad Ali. Hassan Nasrallah was assassinated in an Israeli air strike on the southern suburbs of Beirut on 27 September, alongside several Hezbollah leaders. The eldest son, Hadi, was killed in fighting with Israeli forces in southern Lebanon in 1997 when he was 18 years old.
