The Commander in Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) addressed the US, Israel, Britain and its regional enemies yesterday saying that the Iranian terrorist organization would “burn” their interests for packing nationwide protests.
Speaking at a convention of IRGC and Bassij members in Shahr-e Rey in Tehran, Hossein Salami said that if these countries did not refrain from their “sedition”, “we will chase you, find you and take revenge”.
The Iranian regime has always publicly blamed the US and other “enemies” for “seditions”, or nationwide protests against institutionalized corruption by the people of Iran.
Salami also expressed gratitude for the IRGC and Bassij saying that it was the main force behind the survival of the regime.
The IRGC is responsible for the regime’s regional terrorist operations and suppressing dissent at home, especially through its paramilitary branch, the Bassij.
“As the enemy’s economic pressure mounts, the people become more determined to resist because they know the enemy is trying to create insecurity in the country,” the IRGC Commander in Chief added in comments carried by the IRGC affiliated Tasnim News Agency.
Iranians blame the regime for Iran’s economic crisis. In late November, after the regime tripled the price of gasoline, thousands took to the streets and chanted against the regime’s Supreme Leader. Angry protesters burned hundreds of banks and security institutions.
Iran’s security forces, especially the IRGC and the Bassij carried out a brutal crackdown, killing at least 1,000 protesters and innocent bystanders including more than 20 children in the course of just a few days. At least 12,000 protesters were arrested with several reports of deaths under torture.
Reports indicate that the IRGC command gave its agents cold coins to thank them for the brutal crackdown.
