Israel struck the Shahroud Space Center in Semnan Province in Iran, operated by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), in an attack on October 26.

This is reported by TASS with reference to the data of The New York Times (NYT), which refers to new satellite images of the US operator Planet Labs.

According to the newspaper, solid-fuel missile engines are produced in the central building of Shahroud. They are used to mass-produce medium-range ballistic missiles that Iran can use to strike Israel.

The IRGC has developed its own missile production program in recent years, separate from that of Iran’s Armed Forces, the NYT writes.

The newspaper also reports that in addition to the center, Israel destroyed Iranian air defense systems (air defenses) that were repelling attacks to protect oil refineries and petrochemical plants, as well as a major gas field and port in southern Iran.

On October 26, the Israel Defense Forces announced strikes on military facilities in Iran in response to “numerous continuous attacks.” Iran’s air defense forces said in a statement that military facilities in Ilam, Tehran and Khuzestan provinces were attacked, but the damage was limited and the country’s air defense systems were able to successfully repel the main attack. Iran’s army informed that at least four Iranian soldiers were killed in the strike.

On October 1, Iran launched a massive missile strike against the Jewish state in response to the assassinations of key figures in the leadership of Hamas, Hezbollah and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Israel’s General Staff promised to respond to the attack. For his part, the supreme leader of the Islamic republic, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, warned that his country’s retaliatory strikes against Israel in such a case would be even more extensive.
