The Iranian regime’s former so-called reformist president, Mohammad Khatami, in his statements supported the regime’s missile program and IRGC’s terrorist activities.
The state-run Kalemeh website reported on Monday, October 16, that Khatami has expressed these remarks in a meeting with members of the so-called Islamic Association of Students of Tehran University.
Khatami tried to show his loyalty to the Iranian regime’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei,
By claiming that what is happening in Iran under the heading of “factional feuding” is a series of opinion differences, and said “there is no difference with regard to the principle of revolution and the external threats.”
He further defends the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) and their terrorist acts and claimed: “How is it possible that a person comes to insult the IRGC in a situation where the Revolutionary Guards stands against the terrorists and become martyred?”
Khatami introduced the IRGC as “one of the pillars of national security that came out of the context of the revolution” and said the new US strategy for introducing the IRGC as a group that supports terrorist activities in the Middle East is “nonsense babbling and threatening.”
Khatami then claims that “our IRGC, our army, our government, and our political and social currents are staying together.”
In his recent speech on Monday, Khatami also supported the regime’s missile program.
Khatami states these words although a while ago, Yadollah Javani, the head of the IRGC’s political office said that Mohammad Khatami was accused of supporting the United States and should be punished. And recently rumors have spread that the regime’s judiciary has informed Khatami that he must not participate in any political and cultural program for three months.
His statements comes after the regime’s President Hassan Rouhani also described the Revolutionary Guards as the “popular” and beloved among the people of Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and the Iraqi Kurds, saying that “there is no controversy and dispute among our factions to deal with the conspiracy of enemies.”
Ironically, according to ‘Saham News website’ on Wednesday October 18, Khatami’s security guards received an official order that he is not allowed to leave his house and after couple of hours, regime’s security patrol is stationed in front of his house, and in fact the conditions of an unannounced house arrest is created for Khatami.
