Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei met with a group of elites in Tehran on Wednesday.
He blamed “the United States of America (USA) and some European countries” for regional tensions and wars, countries that “falsely claim to bring peace and tranquility to the region”.
Khamenei has said that they must “disappear” from the region so that the countries of the Middle East can live in peace.
He has said that he is mourning the death of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, but has not postponed the meeting with the elite.
The order to fire the missiles at Israel on Tuesday was given by the country’s supreme leader – who is in a secure location, a senior Iranian official told the BBC news agency.
