An official at the Yemeni Ministry of Defense accused the Iran-backed Houthi militias of spreading propaganda in order to cover up for Tehran’s crimes.
Khaled al-Qarni told Asharq Al-Awsat that the Houthis were attempting to divert the international community’s attention from the major crime committed by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards against the Saudi Aramco oil facilities on September 14.
He added that the Houthis were suffering losses on the ground and were therefore, trying to exploit any information in propaganda and in spreading lies to lift the morale of their fighters.
The Houthis had claimed responsibility for the attack on the Abqaiq and Khuaris oil facilities. Saudi Arabia has dismissed the claim, displaying Iranian weapons that were used in the attack. The United States and Europe have also pointed blame at Tehran.
Speaking from Yemen’s Saada, Qarni said the military operations in the province were making daily victories against the Houthis, who were incurring major losses in members and equipment.
The Houthis are suffering immensely because they have demonstrated that they are willing to sacrifice Yemen, its wealth and people in order to please Iran, he remarked.
Their total collapse is imminent, which is prompting the Houthis to spread their lies, he noted. The people, however, are aware of this and will not believe their propaganda.
Moreover, he refuted Houthi claims that they had defeated three brigades and captured thousands of prisons.
