Iran’s special envoy for Afghanistan Mohammad Ebrahim Taherian held telephone conversations with the Uzbek president’s special envoy as well as Germany’s envoy for Afghanistan.
In the separate conversations on Monday, the Iranian diplomat discussed the latest situation in Afghanistan as well as the intra-Afghan negotiations with the German and Uzbek representatives.
In his talks with the Uzbek diplomat, Taherian supported the Uzbek president’s idea that the UN must pay more attention to the issue of Afghanistan and that an appropriate mechanism be developed for the issue.
In a telephone conversation with his Afghan counterpart in August, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani expressed Tehran’s support for the peace process in Afghanistan under the guidance of the Kabul government, hoping that the intra-Afghan negotiations would yield results with the inclusion of all Afghan groups.
