Deputy Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) for Operations Brigadier General Abbas Nilforoushan said that his country is manufacturing a new generation of hypersonic missiles, adding that Israel has to give up its current air defense shields as the advanced projectiles are capable of overcoming all defense systems.
Brig. Gen. Nilforooshan told Tasnim news agency that Tehran plans to product new indigenous hypersonic missiles.
Pointing to the domestically-developed hypersonic ballistic missile, dubbed “Fattah”, the military official stated that the projectile that can maneuver at a speed of Mach 14 to 15 has been designed to defeat the Israeli regime’s anti-missile systems.
In early June, the IRGC unveiled a domestically-developed hypersonic ballistic missile, dubbed “Fattah”, with a range of 1,400 kilometers, which enjoys advanced high-tech to penetrate and destroy all anti-missile defense systems.
The top general further stressed that Tehran has accurate intelligence about how the Zionist regime’s defense shields work.
“Fattah and the other new models of the hypersonic missile that are being designed will inflict heavy costs on the Israeli regime,” he continued, adding that the time has come for the Zionist regime’s existing anti-missile systems to retire.
The IRGC deputy commander also said the Zionists argued that they have an anti-hypersonic missile system, but it was a “sheer bluff and psychological operation”.
“I’m telling you with confidence that the Zionist regime’s missile defense systems are obsolete in confrontation with Fattah hypersonic ballistic missile,” he emphasized.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Brig. Gen. Nilforooshan said Iran has restricted the range of its missiles to 2,000 kilometers according to orders from Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, in compliance with the country’s operational doctrines and considering the threats.
He stated, however, that Tehran has no problem in terms of technology in extending the range of its missiles.
Iran is currently working to enhance the quality and improve the capabilities of missiles at the range of 2,000 km, the senior commander added.

The Islamic Republic’s military doctrine holds that the country’s armed capability solely serves defensive purposes.
Military comanders say Iran stands among the world’s top states manufacturing drones and precision-striking missiles, and add different types of domestically-built military equipment are favored by world powers.
Iranian military experts and technicians have in recent years made substantial headway in manufacturing a broad range of indigenous equipment, making the armed forces self-sufficient in the weaponry sphere.
Iranian officials have repeatedly stressed that the country will not hesitate to boost its military capabilities, including its missile and drone power, which are entirely meant for defense, and that Iran’s defense capabilities will never be subject to negotiation.
