The head of Israel’s Military Intelligence Directorate, Major General Hertzi Halevi, warned Thursday evening that the Iranian regime is flooding the Middle East with weapons, and is arming most of the organizations dedicated to the destruction of the Jewish state.
Speaking at a memorial service for Israel’s Sixth President, Chaim Herzog held at the Rabin Center in Tel Aviv, Halevi discussed the major threats now facing Israel.
“The threats against Israel are from armed [terror] groups, most of which are funded and aided by Iran. These threats are serious – but not existential. We’re dealing with these threats – both near and far – with determination, fighting enemies of every kind.
“Iran is looking to establish itself in Lebanon, in Syria, and in Gaza, and is flooding the area with deadly weapons and an equally deadly ideology.”
