Surrounded by domestic and international crises Ali Khamenei, the Vali-e-Faqih (Supreme Leader) of the Iranian regime, is planning an attack on Idlib to continue war and bloodshed at any cost in Syria. That is why he sent his Minister of Defense and Foreign Minister to Syria in recent days.
The clerical regime’s Defense Minister traveled to Syria on August 26 and 27, and during his meeting with Bashar al-Assad and his army commanders stated that the revolutionary guards and their mercenaries would remain in Syria. Assad confirmed: “A group of Iranian volunteers have come to Syria to fight in Syria who are led by Iranian officers” (IRNA news agency August 27, 2018).
Subsequently, the Foreign Minister said on September 3 during a visit to Syria, “the remnants of the terrorists in the remaining areas of Idlib must be cleared and the area be made available to the Syrian people.”
At the same time, a large number of revolutionary guards and their mercenaries have gone to Idlib. IRGC Brigadier General Javad Ghaffari, commander of the IRGC forces in Syria, has also been stationed in northern Syria. Part of the IRGC’s command and its four thousand forces include the Afghan mercenaries known as Fatemiyoun, the Pakistani mercenaries known as Zeinabiyoun, part of the Lebanese Hezbollah forces, and some of the Syrian mercenaries of the IRGC from the cities of Nebel and Al-Zahra in the Sheikh Najjar industrial area have been deployed in the northwestern area of Aleppo.
Other centers of concentration that set the stage for an IRGC attack include the Bahouth barracks, or Roghiyah Garrison, in the south of the city of al-Safirah, in the south-eastern part of Aleppo Governorate, and the barracks of the 47th Brigade of Bashar al-Assad in the north of Hama and the town of Al-Eis, in the southwest of Aleppo. Moreover, the Revolutionary Guards are present at the Jourin and Jebel Torkman garrison in the province of Lattakia near Idlib.
In other parts of Syria, the revolutionary guards are also ready to assist in the occupation of Idlib. The glass building near the Damascus International Airport is the General Command Center and the Logistics Center of the IRGC in Syria. The Sheibani barracks in eastern Damascus is among the centers for the deployment of IRGC and Afghan mercenaries, and the forces deployed there also play the role of protecting the palace of Bashar al-Assad.
Several thousand revolutionary guards and Iraqi groups, including Kata’ib, Hezbollah, Al-Nojaba Movement, Kata’ib Imam Ali, Kata’ib Seyyed al-Shohada and Abdal, as well as Lebanese Hezbollah forces are present around the city of Albu-Kamal on the Iraqi border.
The Deir-Al-Zur University Faculty of Education is one of the centers for the command and deployment of the Revolutionary Guards in eastern Syria. The clerical regime has named it Nasr’s headquarters. The T-4 airport, located near the city of Tudmar in the Homs province, is one of the command and control centers of the revolutionary guards in the central front, and Yarmuk University (known as the Zainab Garrison), is the command center of the IRGC forces in southern Syria. The Guards are also present in Daraa and Sheikh Maskin.
The Iranian Resistance calls on the United Nations Security Council and its member states to prevent the warmongering of the mullahs’ regime in Idlib from leading to a humanitarian catastrophe and to take immediate steps to expel the Revolutionary Guards from Syria. This is necessary to end the war and the slaughter in this country.
The warmongering continues alongside plunder of the people’s capital while inflation, unemployment, and the free fall of the country’s currency have broken the backbone of the people. In the nationwide uprising, the Iranian people have repeatedly expressed their opposition to the regime’s war with the slogan “Let go of Syria, think about us instead”.
