A Baluch man was killed by police today in Bandar Abbas southern Iran. According to the Baloch Campaign website, the man was identified as Afzal Paknejad.
Afzal was in the business of buying and selling cars. He had traveled to the province of Hormozgan and was shot near Bandar Abbas on the way back. According to the report, police opened fire on him without a warning.
This is the second case of arbitrary killings by the regime’s security forces or police in July.
On July 2, Aa Baluch worker was killed by border police in Rask, southeastern Iran. He was identified as Faghir-Mohammad Lelahizehi. Faghir-Mohammad and a few others had left for work and were resting on the way back when border police opened fire on them.
An annual report by a human rights group said that at least 204 Iranian citizens were directly or indirectly killed or wounded by Iran’s state security forces in 2020. According to the report, at least 74 citizens were killed, including 36 kolbars, 5 fuel carriers, and 33 other citizens. The 2020 arbitrary shootings injured at least 130 people.
