Grand video conference in support of a free Iran
“Freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor; it must be demanded by the oppressed. Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We did not pass it to our children in the bloodstream.
“It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same. Better to die fighting for freedom then be a prisoner all the days of your life.
“Sometimes it seems like to tell the truth today is to run the risk of being killed. But if I fall, I will fall five feet four inches forward in the fight for freedom. I am not backing off.
“At all times, day by day, we have to continue fighting for the freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and freedom from want… for these are things that must be gained in peace as well as in war.”
The above are a few famous sentences about the shared will of people around the world for freedom, peace, and equality. And the Iranian people are not an exception. For 40 years they have shown that they have the volition to continue their fight for freedom and take down the tyrannical regime ruling their country.
On 20 June 2020, the Iranian diaspora displayed their will in a grand global virtual conference which was held for the anniversary of the beginning of the Iranian people’s resistance against the regime of Khomeini and his successor, Ali Khamenei.
The day was the last ultimatum by the Iranian people to the regime to respect the sovereignty of the people. But the regime did not respect and instead responded to the pleas of the people with violence.
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) said on this conference:
“We extend our commendations to those who created this landmark turning point in Iran’s contemporary history! Many salutations to Massoud Rajavi, the leader of this historic uprising!
“Iran’s 40-year history clearly shows the necessity and rightfulness of June 20, 1981. For this reason, the passage of all these years has failed to push it into oblivion.
“Without such selfless movement, Iran’s political landscape would have been nothing but a desert of despair and passivity.
“The uprisings which began in December 2017 and culminated to the furious uprising in November 2019, has brought the strategy (of resistance) launched on June 20, 1981, into fruition in Iran’s streets. That strategy is now speaking loud and clear.
“The November 2019 uprising that, erupted in 900 locations throughout Iran in only 48 hours, was on the same composition and nature of the thunder that roared in Tehran’s cloudless sky on June 20, 1981.
“Today, due to the inhuman policies of Khamenei and Rouhani, the coronavirus has spread like wildfire, claiming victims all over Iran. Some of the regime’s officials confess that the real number of infected is 20 times that of the regime’s official figures, which translates to about four million cases of infection.
“Exposing and confronting the Iranian regime’s policy of exporting terrorism and fundamentalism in the past four decades in which the NCRI and the PMOI have been fully engaged is part and parcel of the major campaign to overthrow the ruling religious fascism.
A Message to the World Community
We have always said and reiterated that this regime should not be allowed to obtain even a single bullet; it should not pocket even a single dollar in oil revenues, and it should not spend even a single dollar out of revenues that belong to the Iranian people.
The Iranian Resistance has also emphasized since a long time ago that it seeks the restoration of the six UN Security Council resolutions against the regime.
We emphasize the extension of international sanctions against any form of weapons trade with the regime.
The global community must recognize the right to resist against the religious tyranny by the rebellious youth, Resistance Units, and the Iranian people.
At this gathering many of the Iranian people’s global supporters expressed their solidarity, below are parts of their speeches:
“Despite all the appeasement and collaboration, the regime has enjoyed by western countries, it is in a critical phase. The resistance is stronger every day,” said Hermann Tertsch, a Member of the European Parliament.
Rita Süssmuth,” We hope for freedom in Iran soon. It is about the change that you are living and showing to all of us. We are happy that you are leading this example. It’s been 40 years and you have been tireless.”
Margarita Duran Vadell,” We are proud to stand with you Mrs. Maryam Rajavi. Let us move toward a free Iran.”
Faisal Al-Rafou, “The Iranian regime is using the coronavirus to kill the people. Instead, the regime is spending its money in Syria, Lebanon, Iraq.”
Steve McCabe UK MP,” Now the people are chanting down with the dictator down with the supreme leader. The Iranian people know that a different future is possible. They know Maryam Rajavi can lead the country to a different future.”
Antonio Tasso, Italian MP, “In Iran, the youth are suppressed and arrested. This regime exploits even the novel coronavirus to kill political prisoners. This situation is unfortunately met with silence from Europe.”
