The Islamic Republic of Iran has put on display the wreckage of the U.S. spy drone that was shot down near the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday.
According to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran, the U.S. military surveillance drone was flying with its tracking equipment switched off at the time, violating international aviation regulations.
“[The] U.S. drone took off from UAE in stealth mode and violated Iranian airspace,” Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javid Zarif wrote on Twitter on Thursday night, adding that the Global Hawk drone “was targeted near… Kouh-e Mobarak” region in the Central district of Jask in Hormuzgan province.
