A Revolutionary Court in Ahvaz has sentenced Yasin Mousavi, an Iranian Christian convert, to 15 years in prison.
The court accused Mousavi of “membership in groups aimed at disrupting national security” and “propaganda against the Islamic Republic through promoting Zionist Christianity.”
Mousavi was first arrested on December 24, 2023, along with other Christian converts in the city of Izeh.
He spent 20 days in solitary confinement in a Ministry of Intelligence detention facility before being transferred to Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz.
He was released on bail on April 30, 2024.
He previously faced detentions in October 2017, April 2021, and November 2022.
While Christians are recognized as a religious minority in Iran, the authorities deal harshly with those who convert from Islam to Christianity.
