According to Iran’s state-run telegram channel Khabar Fori on June 12, 2021, the regime’s president Hassan Rouhani claimed there was a high level of health in Iran and said:
“The government’s work in the field of health has been unprecedented since the Achaemenid period. The Health Transformation Plan surprised the world. Dozens of world leaders said how could you do that? The work of the Eleventh and Twelfth Governments (Rouhani’s presidential period) on health is unprecedented in the history of Iran. No such services have been provided to the people since the Achaemenid period.”
However, the death toll from coronavirus in the cities is very high, and the regime’s health officials regularly issue warnings in this regard. It is necessary to mention two examples of this situation in recent days, according to the state media:
“While Khorasan Razavi has not yet recovered from the fourth wave of the coronavirus, the danger of the fifth wave of the virus threatens this province. A spokesman for the Ministry of Health said the disease was still unstable, sensitive, and fragile, and in some cities with the red state, the Indian and South Africa coronavirus is spreading. Therefore, there is a possibility of a fifth wave of coronavirus outbreak in Iran with Indian and African mutant virus, and in the meantime, Khorasan Razavi is one of the endangered provinces.” (Khabar Fori, June 10, 2021)
Arman state-run newspaper in an article on June 9, while acknowledging the failure of the vaccination program in Iran, admitted that “despite announcing the readiness of foreign and domestic companies to import vaccines into the country, the Ministry of Health considers the costs of importing vaccines into the country unrealistic and does not issue a license to import branded and valid foreign vaccines into the country.”
This state-run newspaper in an article published by Mohammad Reza Mahboobfar, a health expert, added:
“The fifth peak of the coronavirus covers the south and to some extent the west of the country, and the number of red cities in the country will increase in the next one or two weeks. In such circumstances, speaking about the yellow, orange, and blue situation in the country is toying with the health of the society. The crisis of supplying the second dose of the coronavirus vaccine in Iranian cities has become a challenge in the country today. In the past few days, many people who in turn had to receive the second dose of the vaccine went to the announced centers but heard that the vaccine was not available. The second vaccination in the country has been delayed until further notice, news that reveals the failure of the coronavirus vaccination program in Iran.”
The newspaper goes on to confess to the regime’s crime of banning the import of foreign vaccines and wrote: “A number of reputable European companies based in countries such as Germany have written to the government and the Ministry of Health and have announced their readiness to import world-renowned vaccines to Iran and import the first phase of vaccines up to 10 million doses at a price of $10 to $13 for each dose of vaccine over a period of one week.
“Despite announcing the readiness of foreign and domestic companies to import vaccines into the country, the Ministry of Health considers the costs of importing vaccines into the country unrealistic and does not issue a license to import branded and reputable foreign vaccines into the country. Is saving the lives of the people of our country not worth paying $13 for each dose of imported vaccine?”
