Several months after the election of the prime minister and the failure to form a government in Lebanon, continued economic and livelihood deterioration have led to protests in Lebanon.
For more than a year and a half, Lebanon has been in an unprecedented and severe economic crisis due to the structure of political corruption. As the value of the Lebanese national currency continues to fall, the economic downturn caused by the corruption of the government leads to a widespread poverty and misery of the Lebanese people.
On Monday, Lebanese people closed some streets in central Beirut and the intersections of Fardan, Aisha Bakr, and al-Shuhada Square in the center of the southern suburbs of Beirut, protesting the structure of political corruption in the country and the continuing poor living conditions.
Also, despite the presence of security forces, protesters attacked the building of the Ministry of Economy by creating traffic jams around the parliament and tried to break down its doors and enter the building and clashed with security forces.
Demonstrators also staged a protest rally in front of the United Nations Economic and Social Committee (UNSCA) in central Beirut.
Protesters blame the ‘corrupt regime’ in Lebanon for the country’s deteriorating political and economic situation and call for its overthrow.
But the main source for the crisis in this country is Iran with its wing Hezbollah, that is preventing political and economic stabilization.
Recently in a short text, Iran’s state-run Kayhan which speaks for the regime’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei, confessed explicitly about the regime’s involvement in this country, while applauding the regime’s Revolutionary Guards Quds Force Commander Esmail Qaani for his so-called ‘Great Victory’ in this country and in Syria.
Under the title ‘The great victory of commander Qaani in the economic crisis of Lebanon and Syria,’ this outlet wrote:
“The United States and its agents thought that they could change the situation in the region by economic pressures and forcing governments in the resistance countries to step down. Basically, commander Martyr Soleimani was martyred in this analytical framework, but today, about 20 months after this conspiracy and its defeat became public, we should praise commander Qaani.
“In the short period of his responsibility, he managed this complex situation well by accurately understanding the conditions of the region and its nuances, and by applying the valuable experiences gained during the period of that martyr (Qassem Soleimani, the Quds Force commander who was killed by US drones in Baghdad airport in 2020) and achieved a great victory.
“Today, we can easily talk about the defeat of the conspiracies and the victory of the resistance, in the context of the cases of the last 20 months, where we have faced complex dangers.”
Then confessing about Lebanon’s bad economic situation while being the main factor of this situation it wrote: “Reaching the Lebanese lira to its lowest level in the last 40 years – from 1,500 lira for each dollar to 12,000 lira for each dollar in about 15 months – was not an easy task for a country with a small economy like Lebanon.
“It was very difficult to properly manage the thoughts of Lebanese society in order not to fall into the US’s design in this situation. As if the Syrian lira falls from 500 units for each dollar to 10,000 units created very difficult conditions for the small and war-torn Syrian economy and re-opened the way for Bashar al-Assad’s opponents to become active, and the proper management of this scene was extremely complex. There was no previous experience for it.”
The result of such a policy that this state-run outlet is confessing about and calling a ‘great victory’ is the destruction and misery of two nations, suffering from long lasting wars, which Iran’s regime is using as a shield for its internal crisis and preventing the Iranian people’s protests, like the eight-year Iran-Iraq war as a divine blessing for its existence.
