Three unidentified men have been transferred to solitary confinement in preparation for their executions in Shiraz Central Prison.

According to information obtained by Iran Human Rights, three men were transferred to solitary confinement in preparation for their executions on 5 June. Their identities have not been established at the time of writing.

Two of the men were sentenced to death for drug-related charges by the Revolutionary Court. The third man was sentenced to qisas (retribution-in-kind) for murder.

Their executions are due to be carried out in the coming days.

On 1 June, Iran Human Rights reported at least 307 executions in 2023. May was also reported as the most bloody month in ten years, with at least 142 executions. Reiterating its warning about the escalation of executions, Iran Human Rights called on the international community to stop the Islamic Republic’s killing machine with a strong reaction and practical punitive steps.
