Agents of the Iranian regime placed seals on a Sunni mosque, south east of Tehran, on June 1, 2017, according to the website of the Sunni Friday prayers leader of Azadshahr.
“Some 1,000 Sunnis regularly pray in the Yaft-Abad Mosque in Tehran which was sealed last night. We demand the Interior Ministry, Tehran Municipality and senior officials of the state to urgently unlock the seal so that Sunnis who are from the north of the country can pray without worry,” Molana Mohammad-Hossein Gargij said in a part of his sermon.
The mullahs’ regime in Iran, misusing the banner of Shiite Islam, denies the minority Sunni population their basic rights.
Numerous Sunni prayer halls have been demolished in recent years.
In her speech at a gathering, titled “Interfaith Solidarity Against Extremism,” on June 3, 2017 in Auvers-sur-Oise, Iranian Resistance President-elect Maryam Rajavi said: “The spirit of Islam abhors all forms of compulsion, coercion and forcible prohibition, ranging from imposing the compulsory veil to the forced observance of fasting and prayers by flogging and terror, to preventing the construction of Sunni mosques, and especially to imposing the rule of a government under the name of God and Islam.”
