The United States Department of State published a factsheet on May 22 about the Iranian regime’s “Assassination and Terrorist Activity Abroad.”
As the Iranian Resistance has said for years, the Iranian regime’s embassies around the world are centers of terrorism and espionage. The regime is based on two pillars, domestic oppression, and export of terrorism abroad. Therefore, as the U.S. State Department factsheet asserted, “Since coming to power in 1979, the Iranian regime has been implicated in assassinations, terrorist plots, and terrorist attacks in more than 40 countries.”
“Iran[regime]’s global campaign of terror has included as many as 360 targeted assassinations in other countries, and mass bombing attacks that killed and maimed hundreds,” read the factsheet.
The regime’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC), its exterritorial branch, the IRGC Quds Force, and the mullahs’ Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) oversee plotting and carrying out terrorist attacks. “Iran engaged in these assassinations and other attacks primarily through the IRGC-Qods Force and the Ministry of Intelligence and Security, but also via third parties and proxies such as Hizballah,” read the factsheet.
In another part of its factsheet, the U.S. State Department pointed out how the Iranian regime is using its embassies and disguising its terrorists as diplomats to perform terrorist activities in Europe. “Iranian diplomatic personnel have repeatedly been implicated in assassinations abroad, as evidenced by arrest warrants, judicial and police investigations, intelligence services, and witness reports. As Iranian assassins using diplomatic cover have attracted increased scrutiny, Iran has showed willingness to use criminal gangs, drug cartels, and other third parties to carry out its assassination plots abroad.”
The regime’s foiled attempt to bomb the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) annual “Free Iran” gathering in Paris, in June 2018, which was led by a so-called “diplomat” Assadollah Asadi confirms this truth.

“Since 2018, Asadollah Asadi, who had been assigned as an Iranian diplomat to Austria, remains in a Belgian prison awaiting trial based on evidence that he provided explosives to bomb a dissident rally in Paris, which could have killed scores of men, women, and children,” read the factsheet.
In a press conference on October 23, 2019, Albania’s Police Chief announced the uncovering of a terrorist ring connected to the Iranian regime in that country.
In addition, the Iranian regime plot to bomb the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) gathering in Albania on the eve of the Persian New Year (Nowruz) in 2018 was also foiled. The Albanian government later expelled the regime’s Ambassador and his first deputy as persona non grata for their participation in terrorism and espionage against the MEK members in Albania.
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the NCRI’s President-elect, welcomed the expulsion of the Iranian regime’s Ambassador and Intelligence Ministry’s station chief in Albania. She described this courageous act as a necessary step in countering terrorism and the religious dictatorship ruling Iran and an imperative for the security of European countries.
She added: “Since three decades ago, the Iranian Resistance has always emphasized that the Iranian regime’s Foreign Ministry and its diplomats and embassies are part and parcel of its machinery of terrorism. Three major terror plots by the mullahs in Albania in March 2018, in France in June 2018, and in Denmark in September 2018 had been planned by these embassies and diplomats.”
“The clerical regime has found the only way out of the irremediable internal and external crises and deadlocks in suppressing the people of Iran, warmongering in the region, missile threats, and disseminating fake news, demonization, and terrorism, particularly against the Iranian Resistance, which it views as an existential threat,” Mrs. Rajavi said.
