The High Representative of the European Union, Josep Borrell, had a phone call with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, Hossein Amir Abdollahian.
That’s according to Borrell’s tweet, seen by Ukrinform.
“In call with Iranian Foreign Minister Abdollahian, I strongly condemned execution of Swedish-Iranian national Habib Chaab and asked Iran not to execute German-Iranian Jamshid Sharmahd,” he wrote.
In addition, the parties discussed cooperation between Tehran and the International Atomic Energy Agency.
“I stressed that Iran must continue this, end support to Russia’s war against UA, and stop instrumentalising EU nationals,” Borrell said.
As reported earlier, EU High Representative Josep Borrell said Sunday that Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine had united the Transatlantic alliance.
In February 2023, John Kirby, the White House National Security Council Coordinator, said relations in the military sphere between the Russian Federation and Iran were only deepening, and now there are clear signs that both countries seek to share military technology.
This means that concerns about the security and stability of the Middle East are increasing.
There’s no doubt Russia continues to get drones from Iran, official said.
Russia has been widely using Shahed-type one-way attack drones, launching them massively at various regions of Ukraine.
In the past night alone, 35 such drones were downed by Ukraine’s air defense forces.
