Russia and Iran will kick start the manufacturing operation of a joint scientific research satellite in the coming two weeks, an Iranian academic said.

Mohammad Moghimi, chancellor of the University of Tehran, announced on Monday that the manufacture of the joint scientific research satellite between his university and the Aerospace Department of the University of Moscow will begin in two weeks.

The University of Tehran and the Aerospace Department of the University of Moscow have reached consensus, when representatives of the Iranian university visited Russia, he said, adding that the Iranian delegation paid a visit to the Russian Memorial Museum of Cosmonautics.

As a result of the cooperation, a scientific research satellite will be manufactured by the University of Tehran and Russia’s University of Moscow, he added.

The two sides have decided to initiate the operational measures within two weeks; so that they can launch a joint scientific research satellite into space in the near future, the university official said, noting that a preliminary agreement has also been reached concerning the financial matters of the project.
