In an April 20, 2022 interview on Press TV (Iran), Bolivia’s Ambassador to Iran Romina Guadalupe Pérez Ramon said that IRGC Qods Force Commander General Qasem Soleimani, who was killed in a U.S. airstrike in 2020, had been a “prominent figure” in the fight against terrorism and in advancing international peace. She elaborated that Soleimani had played a “key role” in fighting organizations like ISIS and Al-Qaeda, which she said had been financed and supported by the United States as part of a policy of terrorism.
Guadalupe Perez Ramon: “General Qasem Soleimani was a prominent figure who made great achievements in the fight against terrorism. The US has adopted policies that have spread terrorism and resulted in the formation of groups like al-Qaeda and Daesh, and has also [inaudible] members.
“The US has openly spoken of its support, as former Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton during a ceremony revealed how her country provided financial backing to these groups. Qasem Soleimani, like many other martyrs in the fight against terrorism, played a key role which was not limited to Iran. It was a key fight across the Middle East or across Iran’s borders with the countries where terror groups had been created.
“I believe that this fight brought achievements for international peace as well.”
