Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO); April 25, 2022: Fakhredin Valedi and Hossein Joshan were executed on drug-related charges in Isfahan Central Prison on March 30.
According to information obtained by Iran Human Rights, two men were execution in Isfahan Central Prison (Dastgerd) on the morning of March 30. Their identities have been established as 40-year-old Fakhredin Valedi and 37-year-old Hossein Joshan who were both sentenced to death for drug offences.
An informed source told Iran Human Rights: “Fakhredin Valedi went to the gallows from Ward 3 of the prison. He was arrested four years ago and sentenced to death. He was a plasterer prior to his arrest.”
“Hossein Joshan who had a six-year-old child, had been arrested around five years ago and sentenced to death. Hossein had denied carrying the drugs in court. He denied the charges and said they belonged to someone else who had escaped after Hossein was arrested. They found 100 kilograms of methamphetamines at his house, which he said someone had asked him to keep and they were going to pick it up. But they found the drugs and Hossein received the death penalty,” the informed source added.
Despite nearly a month passing, their executions have not been reported by domestic media or officials in Iran.
According to data gathered by Iran Human Rights, 25 people were executed on drug-related charges in 2020, which significantly increased to over 100 in 2021.
