Ali Houdroge is one of the founders of the Islamic Center of Portland, a Shiite mosque in Beaverton, Oregon. A series of recent controversial posts to Facebook reveals Houdroge to be a supporter of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which was recently declared a terrorist organization by the U.S. State Department.
As President Donald Trump correctly defined the IRGC:
“The IRGC actively participates in, finances, and promotes terrorism as a tool of statecraft. The IRGC is the Iranian government’s primary means of directing and implementing its global terrorist campaign.”
Houdroge believes the U.S. will burn in hell for its foreign policy in the Middle East.
On April 8, 2019, Houdroge posted an article on social media from Mint Press News titled, “Is Trump’s Designation of the Iran Revolutionary Guard Corps as Terrorist Organization a Set-Up for War?” Above the article Houdroge wrote, “They also complaint about why nations start to hate American policies? Because they are not looking for the interest of America but rather the blind support for Izrahell [Israel]. Where is the ‘America First?’ Is Izrahell First to you?!!!”
Houdroge also posted on April 8, 2019, “After declaring the Iranian National Army as a terrorist organization, Trump will also declare himself king of the world!”
Four days earlier, on April 4, 2019, he posted a graphic about how the U.S. supports ISIS from GlobalResearch.ca, a website rife with absurd conspiracy theories. Accompanying the graphic, he wrote, “Many people of these countries do not want to believe their country would not do that! Yes they did and are responsible for killing thousands of people! They will not escape the punishment of God! Eternal Hel!l [sic] ‘They plan and ALLAH plans and ALLAH is the best planner! ومكروا ومكر الله والله خير الماكرين ‘[‘And the disbelievers planned, but Allah planned. And Allah is the best of planners.’].”
Despite his recent hate-filled comments about America on Facebook, Houdroge gave and interview to The Oregonian in 2011 in which he emphasized how talking is the best approach when helping people understand Islam.
In 2005, Houdroge’s center was the recipient of $450,000 from the Alavi Foundation, an Iranian regime front group in the U.S. Alavi was flagged for giving money from its rental properties to Bank Melli, which was sanctioned in 2007 for supporting Iran’s nuclear program, as reported by Clarion Project.
