Afghan Foreign Ministry has demanded an explanation from the regime in Iran regarding the shooting of 25 Afghan migrants by the Revolutionary Guards
In the early hours of Wednesday, April 3rd, a group of Afghan refugees who were emigrating to Iran were shot by members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards. According to the report, there were women and children among them.
The incident happened in the Saravan area of Iran, where smugglers bring Afghan citizens to Iran. They were 20 kilometers past the border, in Iranian territory when, the members of the IRGC opened fire, severely injuring 18 and killing two people killed. An Iranian citizen who was killed was a driver randomly shot while passing by.
This is not the first time that Afghan refugees are shot at Iranian soldiers.
A film about the inhumane behavior of an Iranian soldier with Afghan refugees has been released in cyberspace, which has had many reactions.
Khomeinist regime official have not yet responded to the Afghan Foreign Ministry, but local authorities in Iranian-Afghan border province of Sistan and Baluchistan denied the story and claimed that those who were injured had been in “an automobile carrying foreign nationals, that had flipped over”.
Despite government denial of the incident, the Baloch Activist Campaign recorded and announced the time of the shooting on Wednesday morning and reported that “at least 25 Afghan immigrants were shot; some dead, others injured in Saravan County, shot by of the Revolutionary Guards.”
Attacks on Afghan cars have occurred several times in Iran, including last October when 35 Afghan refugees were killed and injured in Sistan and Baluchestan province, and four years ago Iranian police shot up a pick-up truck driving Afghans in the Iranian city of Kerman. Then too, six Afghan citizens were killed and 18 were injured.
