According to reports, political prisoner Saeid Sangar was summoned last week by intelligence agents in Urmia prison – North Western Iran, and threatened over his recording the prison events in his diaries. Prison officials have told the prisoner he’ll not be allowed to meet with his family members if he keeps writing about prison situation in his memoir.
Arrested in September 2000, political prisoner Saeid Sangar, from Piranshahr, was sentenced to death by branch 1 of Sanandaj Revolutionary court presided by judge Fatemi, on charges of ‘waging war against God’ and ‘having links with PMOI (MEK)’. The sentence, however, was reduced to life in prison later in 2003.
After spending two years in ward 209 of Evin prison, the political prisoner was transferred to Urmia prison in 2003. He was later transferred to Sanandaj prison in November 2007, and once again back to Urmia prison eight years later in September 2015.
