Iran tops the list of the confirmed coronavirus cases registered in Bahrain as linked to travel abroad, the Health Ministry said Thursday.
Some 241 cases or 68 per cent of Bahrain’s overall infections confirmed to have originated abroad were linked to Iran, the ministry added, according to the Bahraini news agency BNA.
Britain comes second with 57 cases followed by Egypt with 12. Iraq and Germany rank the fourth with eight cases each. Twenty-seven other patients were found to have travelled to other countries, according to the breakdown.
Bahrain has recorded a total of 565 Covid-19 cases including four deaths and 337 recoveries.
The kingdom is seeking to tackle the economic impact of the highly contagious ailment. The Bahraini government has unveiled a stimulus package of 4.3 billion Bahraini dinars that include exempting consumers from bills of electricity and water for three months.
Starting from April, the government will pay the bills including administrative fees on the consumers’ behalf provided their value does not exceed that of the corresponding months last year, Bahraini newspaper reported Thursday.
