“Religion and beliefs are nothing but tools used by Iran for its meddling in the region,” said Dr. Sultan Naime, an academic and expert on Iranian affairs.
“What Iran is doing is using various tools to realize its meddling in the region. There are clear facts that show beliefs and religion have no value for Iran. This regime stood alongside Armenia, which is Christian, on its Ghare Bagh dispute with Azerbaijan, who people are mainly Shiites,” he added.
“Iran is afraid of being overthrown. Therefore, it attempts to spread its influence across the region. Following the death of [Iranian regime founder Ruhollah] Khomeini in the late 1980s, senior Iranian regime officials held a meeting, in which [former president Ali Akbar Hashemi] Rafsanjani was present, and they emphasized there is no hope of maintaining the regime other than spreading its influence across the region,” Naime continued.
“I believe if Iran’s meddling are against U.S. interests, Trump will include it in his plans. We in the Arab World must place confronting Iran’s meddling in the region at the top of our list, as this meddling have rendered many problems. I hope there is a clear plan to block Iran’s meddling in the region,” he concluded.
