The State Department is designating Shiraz Petrochemical Company, pursuant to Section 3(a)(ii) of E.O. 13846, for knowingly engaging in a significant transaction for the transport of petroleum products from Iran.

The United States is committed to significantly reducing Iranian energy exports and will sanction those facilitating Iran’s petroleum and petrochemical trade.

The National Iranian Oil Company, a government-owned corporation under the direction of the Ministry of Petroleum of Iran, is a national oil and natural gas producer and distributor headquartered in Tehran;

Listed by the British government in 2012 as an entity of potential concern for WMD-related procurement, and has had export licenses both granted and denied by that government;

Approximately 90% owned by the National Petrochemical Company (NPC);
