A male prisoner sentenced to death on drug-related charges, has been executed in Boroujerd Prison.
According to Iran Human Rights, on the morning of Tuesday, February 16, a male prisoner was executed in Boroujerd Prison, Lorestan province. The identity of the prisoner who was sentenced to death on drug-related charges, has been established as Ali Dadfari-Mazandarani.
An informed source told IHR: “Ali Dadfari was arrested on charges of carrying 80 kilograms of methamphetamines and heroin in 2018 and sentenced to death. He was also accused of being in possession of 15 AK47 rifles.”
At the time of writing, the execution of Ali Dadfari-Mazandarani has not been reported by domestic media or officials in Iran.
There has been a dramatic drop in drug-related executions since a new article was added to the Anti-Drugs Law around three years ago. The amendment, which was passed into law in 2017, specifically restricts the death penalty and provides a degree of reduction in some drug-related cases.
