Iranian state TV showed missiles being fired from rocket launchers on the backs of military vehicles yesterday in the central desert, at the start of a three day test exercise for the elite revolutionary guard.
The Tasnim news agency reported that the tests of the “smart and advanced missiles” were all succesful.
General Mohammad Pakpour, head of the revolutionary guard ground forces, told state TV the tests “sent a message to any potential adversaries we are ready to give a crushing response to any threat.”
He said rockets with ranges of more than 60 miles had been tested as well as the shorter range fajr-3, fajr-4 and fajr-5 missiles had been tested.
The manoevres comes just three weeks after the US put Iran “on notice” after it test-fired a medium-range ballistic missile, which Washington claimed breached the terms of a nuclear deal between the international community and Iran.
US President Donald Trump tweeted on February 2: “Iran has been formally PUT ON NOTICE for firing a ballistic missile.”
