Regarding the Jan. 31 front-page article “Drone in deadly attack on soldiers was misidentified”:
The drone attack in Jordan is Iran again goading the United States into war, providing a distraction and facilitating a win for Russia in its war against Ukraine as well as preparing for a caliphate to attain greater prominence in the region.
Sincere condolences to the families of the military service personnel who died protecting our nation and ensuring a prevention of an Islamist extremist uprising in the Middle East. Their deaths will not be in vain. The United States planned a level-headed, assiduous response to the attack, loud enough to deter another attack on a U.S. base in the Middle East, yet tempered enough to not officially enter into war with Iran.
Currently, Iran, through Hezbollah, Hamas and the Houthis, has successfully provoked local and international military action under the guise of Palestinian liberation. The results have impeded U.S. influence in the Middle East and intensified the war in Gaza, sacrificing thousands of innocent people for a radical Islamist cause.
Focusing on a diplomatic offensive, economically suppressing Iran and pressuring allies in de-escalating from more conflict are the most practical solutions in managing Iran and Hezbollah’s hostilities toward the United States and the West. Any aggressive response to the drone attack will prevent an overextended United States from offering effective military aid to allies in Eastern Europe and the Middle East, thus creating an opening for Iran to launch a regional, if not global, war.
