The Supreme Leader of Iran Ali Khamenei is the “new Hitler of the Middle East”. Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman of Saudi Arabia said in an interview with the New York Times.
Speaking about the appeasement during the Hitler years, he said that Europe needs to be careful to ensure that a similar thing happens with Iran. He said that it is clear that appeasement did not work with Hitler and that there is a risk the appeasement of Iran could end up with a similar outcome.
While it may seem rather drastic to compare the two situations, the facts must be looked at in closer detail. Since the 1979 Iranian Revolution, the regime’s ideology is used to legitimately continue with the revolution. The “Vilayat-e-Faqih” ideology, Guardianship of the Islamic Jurist in English, is the way that the regime justifies its incitement of terrorism across the Middle East.
Ali Khamenei is the Supreme Leader of the Iranian regime and this makes him the ultimate authority.
The constitution of Iran explains that the Supreme Leader is in a position to rule the “Shiite” nation and therefore all Shiites must express the greatest of loyalty to him.
This has resulted in sectarianism being made constitutional and has led to spy cells, organisations loyal to the Guardian Jurist, and militias and armed groups. Right now, there are countless Shiite militias spread across the Middle East. Some of these include the Houthis in Yemen, the Lebanese Hezbollah, sleeper cells in the Gulf States, and the Popular Mobilization Forces in Iraq, to name just a few.
It is impossible to deny that there are some very close similarities between Iran regime’s totalitarian ideology and the Nazi rule in Germany. These totalitarian regimes have no regard for international conventions.
The Middle East is in a state of chaos and the only way to start getting order back is to put Iran’s totalitarian rule to an end.
Many European leaders are very hesitant to confront Iran because they are worried about affecting the 2015 Iran nuclear deal. However, the deal contains many flaws and does not merit to be protected. It barely protects the world as it stands, so ignoring all of Iran’s belligerence is doing nothing but making the threat even more dangerous.
Iran is operating with complete disregard to human rights and there are millions of victims of its brutality – not just in Iran, but all across the region and further afield.
US President Trump has warned the European leaders that if they do not fix the serious flaws in the nuclear deal, he will scrap it. He made it very clear that this is their last chance to save the deal. He listed a number of issues with the deal, including the “sunset” provisions that basically give the deal an expiry date.
Another issue that he has with the deal is the inspection access. Nuclear inspectors are not given immediate and unconditional access to suspect sites, giving Iran the time to remove evidence and cover up illicit activities.
