Arbitrary arrests and detentions have long been central to the Iranian regime’s repressive tactics. Recent reports indicate that widespread arrests of citizens continue across various cities, targeting activists, political dissidents, and ethnic minorities.
Arrests of PMOI/MEK Supporters

According to a statement issued by the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), at least seven supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) have been arrested in recent days. The detainees, identified by the NCRI, include:

Mohammad Ali Mehreganfar, 66, from Zarqan, Fars Province, a political prisoner in the 1980s.
Hoda Mehreganfar, 35, daughter of Mohammad Ali, a robotics engineer.
Akbar Bagheri, 55, from Kermanshah, a political prisoner from 2017 to 2023.
Morteza Rahmani, 47, from Tehran.
Reza Ashoorzadeh, 53, from Tehran.
Rouhollah Eskandari, 38, from Shiraz.
Hakimeh Honarmandi, mother of Rouhollah Eskandari, from Shiraz.

Kurdish Citizens Targeted

Kurdish sources have reported a wave of arrests targeting Kurdish citizens in various cities. In the wake of a general strike in Kurdistan, eight Kurdish individuals were detained by regime security forces:

Chiako Qorbehi (Sanandaj)
Hassan Khalili (Sardasht)
Sadeq Kurdi (Piranshahr)
Mehdi Javanmardi (Dehgolan)
Farhad Zandi (Dehgolan)
Arsalan Mirki (Dehgolan)
Farshad Seyyedi (Dehgolan)
Mansour Moloudpour (Mahabad)

Additionally, eight other Kurdish citizens, including a child and a woman, were arrested in recent days and transferred to unknown locations. Those detained include Parsa Rostami, Parvin Advaei, Naser Ahmadzadeh, Afshin Mostafapour, Farzad Hamidi, Zagros Rasouli, Shirzad Qaleh, and Parsa Rahimi from Mahabad, Naqadeh, Kamyaran, Marivan, Sanandaj, and Sardasht.
Crackdown on Baluch and Arab Communities

Reports on social media also highlight the arrest of Baluch citizens. According to one source, five Baluch individuals were detained in Sarakhs County, Khorasan Razavi Province, four days ago. Their names are:

Sarwar Olanj
Rasool Olanj
Eghbal Rudini
Mohammad Rudini
Aref Rudini

Their whereabouts remain unknown.

Furthermore, previous reports revealed widespread arrests of Arab citizens in various cities of Khuzestan Province, particularly in Ahvaz.
The Regime’s Fear of Uprising

The scale and scope of these arrests indicate that the Iranian regime is acting out of fear of a potential uprising. The systematic targeting of PMOI/MEK supporters, Kurdish activists, and Baluch and Arab citizens reflects a desperate attempt to preempt dissent.

With past experiences of mass uprisings in 2017, 2019, and 2022, the regime is employing preemptive repression to avoid being caught off guard. However, history has shown that suppressing public dissent through mass arrests and intimidation is not a sustainable strategy.

As the regime attempts to delay its inevitable downfall, the Iranian people remain determined to accelerate its overthrow. Every moment lost in resisting the dictatorship results in more executions, deeper social and economic devastation, and a greater setback to Iran’s progress. The growing unrest in the country suggests that no amount of repression can indefinitely suppress the will of the people.
