On January 9th, the European Council of Ministers issued a statement imposing sanctions on two senior officials of the Iranian regime’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) and placed their names on the EU terror black list. They have also extended the restricting measures on individuals and entities who were previously designated by the EU.
Following US exit from the 2015 nuclear deal, the regime in Iran is depending on their relations with the European Union to continue to be good and expanding, and that the EU will carry on its support for the accord with Tehran.
So, the reactions of the Iranian regime to these measures is surprising — such as Parliamentary Director General for International Affairs and Assistant to Speaker of Majlis Ali Larijani, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, who seemed to resort to threats when he tweeted, “Having strong relations w/ #Europe is part of #Iran foreign policy’s logics. But West should face a ‘shock’ to realize we won’t remain in one-way tunnel of the current #JCPOA at any cost. Now, safe Europe for #terrorists & #MEK has to get a logical, prudent but shocking message.”
Also on Twitter, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif criticized Denmark, Netherlands and France for sheltering members of the MEK,. “Accusing Iran won’t absolve Europe of responsibility for harboring terrorists,” he posted.
Member of the Iranian Majlis (parliament) Alireza Rahimi, said, “… We must not consider these chain allegations as unassociated,” and called for European ambassadors to be summoned and issued warnings. “It is necessary for the Foreign Ministry to summon the ambassadors of Denmark and the Netherlands, and provide necessary explanations in this regard, demanding they not allow a number of extremist European states to damage or downgrade relations with Iran…”
Iran analysts question whether the regime will ever end its support of terrorism in other countries, but it seems clear to the Iranihttps://english.mojahedin.org/i/newsen/26826an people that the terror attacks will not stop. they believe that because the regime has no solution for its current crises, it must export domestic oppression and exporting terrorism abroad to deflect the peoples’ attention from regime’s corruption and mismanagement.
The Iranian Resistance emphasizes the need to adopt a firm policy aimed at preventing the mullahs’ terrorism in European countries and abroad. In fact, the Iranian resistance’ President Maryam Rajavi issued a statement that focuses on this very issue.
